The Chinese Zodiac

Looking to the Chinese calendar, this year is year for animal called OX. What is Ox ? Ox is animal looks like cow, buffalo, or bull. Maybe all are in the same class animal hehe.. There is 12 animals in the 12 year cycle which is following to this order rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog and pig. Last year was rat (2008) and now is Ox (2009) and when 2019 the year animal will be pig.

By the way, why there is no cat in the list of the animal. (cat.. meow.. meow..) . According to the Chinese legend, these 12 animals argue that who would be the first animal in 12-year cycle. Then, the God decided to hold contest which the animal must cross the river. The first one will be on the chart then follow by other animal to finish the contest.

Nah…where is the story for the cat…? Hehe... There is lots of different story; this rat is given a task to invite animals to report to the Jade Emperor for a banquet to be selected in zodiac sign. Cat was a good friend to rat, but rat playing some tricks to make cat believe that banquet was a next day. Then the cat sleep and thinking that it was the next day. When the cat found out, hehe… cat vowed to be rat’s natural enemy for ages to come. Haha.. so pity for this cat but other source of story said the rat kick or push the cat down into the river during the contest of cross river.

You have provided some nice information. Rat was really clever as far as your story goes. He pushed cat into water. This might be the reason why cat chases a rat. Remember Tom $ Jerry Show Ha ha ha. I more thing cats hate water.
